Over the last 10 years Casa Bacardi has become an integral part of The Electric Picnic, Ireland’s largest music festival and an event that is now one of the highlights of the European summer. We created Bacardi #TryStopMe as a celebration of the untameable spirit of Bacardi, and a search for Ireland’s finest creative talent to feature at the Casa Bacardi and its re-creation of the world famous Bacardi building in Havana: The Edificio. Got talent? Prove it. Cathal Pendred, Nialler 9 and 6th generation Bacardi family member Enrique Comas were the judges and their video stories were used to motivate people to share their unique abilities.
Twitter, Facebook and YouTube were pressed into service to drive traffic to a microsite. A torrent of people entered. There’s a lot of talent out there, if you know how to reach it.
The party on August 8th, 2014 at Dublin’s Sugar Club, before the party in Stradbally, was where the finalists were selected in the categories of photography and DJ/Musician as well as the Wild Bat category for any discipline. It was quite a night. And the culmination of the #TRYSTOPME idea at this years EP proved that it was quite a campaign, too.
